Slow Cooker Beef Brisket with BBQ Sauce
You Guys!!!! This is one of those recipes that will be on repeat in your home after you try it just once!
Beef brisket slow cooked, then finished in the oven till caramelized, basted with a homemade BBQ Sauce that the brisket is cooked in.
Slice it and eat alone or do as I did and put it on a grilled tortilla with some sharp cheddar cheese for a brisket taco.
I double the original recipe and this feeds my family. Even if you were cooking for less you would be happy with leftovers!
WHAT YOU NEED:
5 – 6 lb beef brisket
1 tbsp olive oil
Rub:
2 Tbsp brown sugar
4 tsp paprika powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 & 1/2 tsp mustard powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
BBQ Sauce
4 garlic cloves , minced
1 cup apple cider vinegar
3 cups ketchup
1 cup brown sugar , packed
4 tsp EACH black pepper, onion powder, mustard powder
2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
WHAT YOU DO:
Mix Rub ingredients. Rub all over brisket. If time permits, leave for 30 minutes up to 24 hours in the fridge
Combine BBQ Sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix – then pour into crock pot then add the brisket
If your crock pot is not big enough you can cut the brisket into 2 pieces to make it fit
Cook in slow cooker for about 10 hours
Remove brisket onto a baking tray.
Pour liquid in slow cooker into a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium high heat and then reduce until it thickens to a syrup consistency (it thickens more as it cools)
Meanwhile, drizzle brisket with oil then roast in a 390F oven for 15 minutes until brown spots appear.
Remove then baste generously with Sauce, then return to oven for 5 minutes.
Remove and baste again, then return to oven for 5 – 10 minutes until it caramelizes
TO SERVE:
Slice brisket thinly across the grain and serve with remaining BBQ Sauce.
My family loves anything in a taco so u butter a tortilla shells, fry it for a couple minutes per side to get it golden brown and then add the meet and some cheese and drizzle with the bbq sauce.
You could also serve with a baked potato and beans – it really would be good any way you want to serve it!
