WHAT YOU NEED:
2 cups unsalted butter, softened
1 & 1/2 cups white sugar
1 & 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
4 whole Eggs, room temperature
2 tbsp Vanilla Extract
4 cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Salt
4 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Secret Ingredient: sea salt
WHAT YOU DO:
In a bowl, cream the butter and sugars together until creamy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix until evenly incorporated.
In a small mixing bowl combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mix on low until fully combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips. Cover the dough and allow to chill for 60 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
Scoop even sized scoops of dough and transfer onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving 2-3 inches between each cookie.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. The cookies will be soft, but will firm up.
As soon as they come out of the oven (or you could add a couple min before they’re done) sprinkle with flaky sea salt, I pressed the salt in lightly with the back of a spoon to set but if you add while they’re still cooking you don’t need to press it in.
Allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
This recipe makes a lot! You can either half it to make about 20 cookies and freeze the rest (that’s what I did) or make them all at once, yields about 40!
*some people like to scoop their cookies onto the baking sheet and then chill (vs chilling the bowl) do whatever you’d rather.
enjoy! XOXO
